DETAILED Itinerary (offsite)

Day 1: Windhoek to Ongava Private Game Reserve
(Ongava Lodge)

Your journey begins when you are collected from your accommodation at 08H00 and head north towards the Ongava Private Game Reserve.

Ongava Lodge is situated along the southern boundary of Namibia'a famous Etosha National Park, in the privately-owned 30 000 hectare Ongava Game Reserve. This prime location gives guests easy access to superb wilderness and the opportunity to view some of Namibia's most impressive game species.

Ongava Lodge offers 14 luxury, spacious ensuite chalets made of rock and thatch, which provide perfect views from private decks. The main lodge consists of a lounge, dining room and bar, a swimming pool, curio shop and reception area. Meals are either served in the main dining area under thatch with a view over the camp's waterhole, or on the dining deck under the stars. In between exhilarating game walks and drives, guests will spend their nights on safari at Etosha's first luxury lodge.

Activities: Afternoon activity at Ongava Game Reserve

Included: Lunch, Dinner, Drinks at the lodge, and Activity

Day 2: Ongava Private Game Reserve
(Ongava Lodge)

Today we will spend most of our time watching wildlife. A visit to a number of waterholes is high on the cards and we make a stop at the Etosha Pan, “place of dry water”. The Pan is an extensive flat depression of about 5,000 km2. This great, white expanse is a place of shimmering mirages, and seeing large herds of game in this setting makes Etosha a unique experience in Africa.

Activities: Morning and afternoon game drives in Etosha National Park with your guide

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Drinks at the lodge, Park Fees and Activity

Day 3: Etosha National Park, East
(Mokuti Etosha Lodge or similar)

We depart Ongava Game Reserve and travel to the eastern part of Etosha, visiting waterholes along the way.

Located in north western Namibia, Etosha East is a protected sanctuary in the eastern part of the world-renowned Etosha National Park, known as one of the most accessible game reserves in Southern Africa. It boasts vast open plains scattered with semi-arid savannah grasslands dotted with waterholes and secluded bush camps. This remote area teems with abundant wildlife such as lions, elephants, black rhinos and giraffes, as well as a variety of birdlife featuring flamingos, ostriches, eagles, hornbills, and owls.

Mokuti Etosha Lodge is situated just outside the gates on the eastern side of the park on its own private 4 000 hectare nature reserve. It is known for its excellent and diverse wildlife. Facilities include a dining room, bar, pool bar and terrace, tennis courts, a spa, a gym and an open air African Boma.

Activities: Full day Etosha Game Drive with your guide

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Park Fees and Activity

Day 4: Etosha National Park, East
(Mokuti Etosha Lodge or similar)

We spend another day driving through Etosha National Park searching for predators, plains game, reptiles & birds.

The game viewing here is usually excellent, with close-up views of springboks, zebras, impalas, giraffes, gemsboks and plenty of birds. We may also see elephants and lions.

Activities: Full day Etosha Game Drive with your guide

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Park Fees and Activity

Day 5: Rundu
(Hakusembe River Lodge Gondwana Collection Namibia or similar)

After a morning game drive and the opportunity to take more pictures of Etosha's wildlife in the soft morning light, we leave the park through the eastern gate and continue to Rundu in the southwestern corner of the Kavango region. This part of the country is mostly inhabited by the Okavango people. We will stop to visit the Ju/'Hoansi-San community and learn about the San people and their nomadic culture. Afterwards we will continue to our lodge where we will sleep one night on the bank of the Okavango river.

Hakusembe River Lodge is situated on the Okavango River, near Rundu. All chalets look out over the picturesque river and facilities include a floating deck, swimming pool, restaurant and bar.

Activities: Game Drive, Living Museum of the Ju/'Hoansi-San

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Activity

Day 6: Divindu
(Divava Okavango Resort & Spa or similar)

After driving eastwards along the Okavango River, we enter the beautiful Mahango Game Reserve. The reserve is situated in the northeastern Kavango Region, bordering on the western Caprivi and Botswana. It is characterised by riverine forests, a broad flood plain, magnificent baobabs and large herds of elephant and red lechwe. The reserve is one of Namibia's most diverse and interesting conservation areas, harbouring rare game species such as buffalo, sable and roan antelope, Chobe bushbuck, reedbuck, tsessebe and sitatunga.

Our accommodation will be the luxury Divava Okavango Resort & Spa. Perched on the Okavango River, you may spot hippos and crocodiles from your chalet which boasts a large deck, spacious bathroom and an indoor and outdoor shower.

We will go on a game drive in the afternoon to spot the exciting wildlife this area has to offer.

Activity: Mahangu Game Reserve game drive

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Park Fees and Activity

Day 7: Okavango Panhandle
(Mopiri)

Today's destination is the unbelievable Okavango Delta. We will cross the border into Botswana and continue southwards through small villages and towns, steering clear of goats and cattle on the road. We will arrive at our accommodation in the early afternoon after having changed to 4-wheel drive during the last part of our journey in order to make it through the sand. It is then time to sit down with a drink on the deck overlooking the Weboro Lagoon and keep a lookout for crocodiles, hippos and birds.

The Okavango Delta is situated in the northwestern corner of Botswana and stretches over 15000 square kilometres. Here, the magnificent Okavango River sprawls out over the dry sands of the Kalahari Desert forming a flourishing wetland oasis featuring meandering waterways, lagoons studded with water lilies, as well as fertile floodplains and reeded islands inhabited with abundant wildlife including lion, rhino, leopard, giraffe, hippos, elephants, crocodiles and countless species of bird.

Mopiri consists of ten spacious ensuite tents that are set on the banks of Weboro Lagoon offering panoramic views. Long winding board walks between the main area and the tents offer guests privacy and the opportunity to stretch their legs and explore the island.

Later in the afternoon, there will be a guided bush walk.

Activity: Guided bush walk

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Drinks at the lodge, Full Board and Activities

Day 8: Okavango Panhandle
(Mopiri or similar)

Today the magical Okavango Delta awaits. We will travel by speed boat through the channels to one of the islands and then continue with local mokoro boats. Each mokoro will have its own poler. We will move close to the islands in search of animals. Wildlife here includes elephants, lions, buffalo, aquatic antelopes, hippos, crocodiles, vervet monkeys, leopards and birds. At some point we will stop for a guided walk on one of the islands. We will return to our lodge just after lunch.

Activity: Full day Mokoro trip

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Drinks at the lodge, Full Board and Activities

Day 9: Kwando River, Namibia
(Camp Kwando or similar)

Today we will leave Botswana and return to Namibia. We will drive northwards back to the Mahango Game Reserve, where we will enjoy another short game drive, trying to spot some of the animals that we may have missed during our last visit. As we travel through the Caprivi we may stop to familiarise ourselves with the local culture and perhaps purchase some genuine Namibian handicrafts.

Our captivating lodge offers views of the Kwando River through a thick canopy of Jackalberry and Mangosteen trees. It is centered around a large thatch lapa which houses a restaurant and bar. The chalets are fitted with spectacular viewing decks, comfortable beds and private bathrooms.

Activity: Game Drive with your guide

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Activity

Day 10: Chobe River Front, Namibia
(Chobe Water Villas or similar)

We drive through Caprivi's capital, Katima Mulilo, then continue to our lodge, which is beautifully located on the Chobe River. In the early afternoon we will take a boat cruise on the river. Chobe is famous for large numbers of buffalos and elephants which we hope to see from the boat, as well as hippos and crocodiles. We might also catch sight of lions at the water's edge and the bird life here is rich. This boat cruise will last the whole afternoon until sunset.

Our exclusive lodge is situated in the Namibian Kasika Conservancy on the banks of the Chobe River. It hosts a maximum of 32 guests in its uniquely positioned 16 luxurious water villas and features lounges, a bar, a restaurant, an infinity Pool, an African boma and pool deck.

Activity: Chobe River Game Cruise

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Drinks at the lodge, Park Fees and Activity

Day 11: Chobe River Front, Namibia
(Chobe Water Villas or similar)

The Chobe National Park, which is the second largest national park in Botswana and covers more than 10,000 km2, has one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the African continent. Its abundance of wildlife, and the true African nature of the region, offers the safari experience of a lifetime. It is particularly well known for large numbers of elephants, which are said to be the largest in body size of all living elephants. Other wildlife includes the African painted dog, blue wildebeest, Cape buffalo, civet, giraffe, hippopotamus, hyena, leopard, lion, puku, tseessebe and zebra.

Our morning to late morning hours will be dedicated to game driving in and around the park. Like the boat tour yesterday it may turn out to be one of the highlights of our safari. The afternoon and evening may be used to relax at the pool or, for those who so wish, another boat tour or game drive.

Note: We will be staying on the Namibian side.

Activity: Game drive in Chobe National Park.

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Drinks at the lodge, Park Fees and Activities

Day 12: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
(Ilala Lodge Hotel or similar)

After breakfast you will be transferred across the border into Zimbabwe, which will be the third and last country that you will visit on this safari. It is a short drive of about 170km, but you should continue to keep an eye open for wildlife along the way. After arriving in Victoria Falls, you will continue straight to your lodge, which is situated close to the falls.

We visit the spectacular Victoria Falls. The noise of Victoria Falls can be heard from a distance of 40 kilometers, while the spray and mist from the falling water can rise to a height of over 400 meters. Local tribes used to call the waterfall, Mosi-o-Tunya, “The smoke that thunders”. It is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and famous for being the largest waterfall in the world.

Ilala Lodge has 73 stylish, well-appointed rooms, that offer the ultimate in comfort and luxury. The hotel's location affords guests unique views of the mist that rises from the mighty waterfall.

After lunch you will have the afternoon open for any activities that are not already included with this safari.

There will be a farewell dinner at one of the local restaurants at Victoria Falls.

Activity: Victoria Falls Tour.

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Park Fees and Activities

Day 13: Victoria Falls

After a relaxing breakfast (and depending on your flight times) you will be transferred to Victoria Falls International Airport.

Included: Breakfast, Airport transfer
