We recently completed a 17-day journey through Namibia this June (2026). It is one of our most fascinating and unforgettable travel experiences! This could not have been achieved without our travel partner, Blue Crane Safaris. When we first came across Namibia, frankly speaking, we knew very little about the country. We reached out to Blue Crane Safaris for planning our trip because of its good reviews online, and it turned out we made the perfect choice! From the very beginning, when we inquired about our private tour, Derek and his team already demonstrated their professionalism, efficiency, and thoughtfulness, curating an itinerary that well suited our interests and needs.

The proposal itself is remarkable enough - a 40-page summary with all the details. We could nearly visualise our exciting trip before we went! Namibia is a true gem – a destination of natural wonder and great variety that we found awe-inspiring. We were lucky to have Zepe as our tour guide and driver, who is simply outstanding - in addition to being knowledgeable, he is caring, passionate and always funny, making our trip all the more enjoyable. More like a friend than a guide, he shared with us the great (and sad) things about his homeland - its amazing landscape, wildlife, culture and history.

 

From the sunrise over Sossusvlei, to the sunset over the Spitzkoppe Rock Arch and the free-roaming black rhino at Damaraland, we find every moment truly fascinating. We love the tasteful accommodations chosen by Derek, especially the Gondwana lodges, and the restaurants along the drive picked by Zepe - we never expected the restaurants in the desert could be so stylish, and the food is so tasty - in particular the apple tart at Helmeringhausen! We are happy to bring home beautiful photos, unforgettable memories, and above all, a deeper appreciation of the magnificent Namibia. I learned about Blue Crane from a facebook safari group-- they were recommended repeatedly by multiple people so I thought I would consider using them to plan our trip. I approached several companies to get itineraries and prices. Blue Crane stood out in both the itinerary they proposed, their presentation and their price so I chose them to organize our trip.


 

Throughout our work with Blue Crane to design a custom trip, they communicated promptly and thoroughly and actually listened to my interests and fit our trip precisely to what we wanted. From the minute we arrived in Namibia, we were well taken care of. Our private guide/ driver through 1600 miles of driving in Namibia, was Me-Gusto. He is truly one of the best guides we've ever had in all our travels. He has a deep knowledge about history, culture, animal behavior and geology. He was also attentive to the little things that make a trip easy and fun. We were in a brand new, comfortable safari vehicle that Me-Gusto kept very clean for us.

 

For our trip to the Okavango Delta, Blue Crane set us up in a series of lodges that managed our activities and game drives. We took short flights between each location. Each lodge was entirely different and we loved them all.


I cannot recommend Blue Crane Safaris enough-- they are the best! They were meticulous in planning, thoroughly knowledgeable about the places they sent us to and were super easy to work with.

Petrina responded promptly to my enquiry and sent a suggested itinerary which fitted within our budget. She was very patient as I changed some things to more suit us. From then she arranged everything and all we needed to do was arrive at the airport and meet Moses, our driver, guide and porter, who was amazing.

He was a careful driver and very knowledgeable of the country, birds and animals. He took care of everything from room check-in/out, our meals and activities. We saw everything we wanted and the desert elephants were a bonus. I would certainly recommend Blue Crane, and if Moses is your guide you will be very lucky.

Our group of six has just completed a magnificent 15-day Private Namibian Highlights Accommodated Safari with Blue Crane Safaris. From the commencement of the safari in Windhoek to our return, the itinerary was planned to perfection.

From the time we met our guide and driver, Me-Gusto, at Windhoek, we knew we were in for an awesome 15 days. Me Gusto's energy and passion is second to none — all day, every day, he connected with everyone in our group and we all connected with him.

Me Gusto's intimate knowledge, experience and explanations of Namibia's history, cultures, climate, geology, scenery, flora, fauna and wildlife was brilliant. The interactions, discussions and laughs we had made the trip fly.

Each morning, Me Gusto would brief the group on the travel planned for the day, what we would expect to see and what we could possibly see. The Landcruiser was spacious, comfortable and always presented clean each day.

Me Gusto's ability to spot wildlife was unbelievable and provided each of the group an opportunity to view and photograph everything we wanted and ensured that we got the best opportunities at each location throughout the entire safari. Every day, every location was a highlight.

The accommodation at each stay was stunning — more than we expected. The meals throughout were fantastic.

In summary, to describe our Namibian experience: Namibia is a place of unbelievable excitement, beauty and contrasts. The people of Namibia are so friendly and cannot do enough to help you. Don't just put Namibia on your bucket list — do it.

We just returned from a wonderful two-week family trip in Namibia.

Our guide, teacher and driver was the amazing and exceptional Frank Kasaona from Blue Crane Safaris. Frank’s knowledge, attentiveness and constant availability were truly outstanding. He radiated positive energy, was always smiling and was eager to help with anything we needed.

We travelled for 15 days in October 2025 with Blue Crane Safaris. In one sentence, they are fantastic.

Petrina helped us to plan our trip. We had visited Namibia in 2022 with another agency, but this time we decided to opt for Blue Crane. Petrina looked after all our requests and managed to book ultra-luxurious lodges within the price band we had mentioned. Other agencies quoted us a much higher price for the same itinerary.

We were picked up from the airport at Windhoek by Marcus, who was our guide and driver. Any praise for him will be too little. He was super attentive, hyper-vigilant to our needs and an amazing spotter.

The only problem now we will have is that, in all our future safaris, we will compare our guides with Marcus and we are bound to be disappointed. The itinerary was planned out with minutes of detail by Petrina and they delivered more. There were times we requested an upgrade in rooms or an additional trip, which were done without any hassle or extra cost.

In short, you cannot go wrong with Blue Crane.

We had an absolutely amazing time during our three-week travel through Namibia, Botswana and Victoria Falls.

From start to finish the communication with Blue Crane was perfect. Derek and I had lots of contact to design the perfect tailor-made holiday for my family of eight.

Me-Gusto was our guide and he made sure our holiday was absolutely amazing. He attended to all our differing needs, was always flexible, super knowledgeable about the area and the animals, and just a great person. Paulus was our cook and he made sure that we were always eating delicious meals.

My personal highlight was seven days of wild camping in the Okavango Delta. If you are planning a trip, definitely include this. We had an extra guide in the Okavango Delta named Kane and he was amazing as well.

Our 21-day trip from Namibia, Botswana and Victoria Falls went fantastic. Our daughter Milou mapped out a tailor-made trip together with Derek. Together with our children, their partners and grandson, we made an unforgettable trip.

Eight people fit exactly in the safari car. We travelled 11 nights in lodges and 10 nights camping in the bush, and experienced wild life. Paulus then cooked delicious meals for us.

Me-Gusto helped ensure that we had such a great trip. Told a lot about Namibia and the history of the country. He is an experienced guide and a fine man to go on the road with for three weeks. Never a dull moment.

In short, I recommend everyone to book their trip with Blue Crane. Seen a lot and the birders among us were also very satisfied.

What an incredible trip, on so many levels. I did a lot of research in planning this trip and chose Blue Crane over other tour companies based in Namibia and Botswana. Did that decision ever work out well.

Never had a worry, as Blue Crane planned out every detail imaginable throughout our itinerary. Petrina was readily available and always helpful. The accommodations were excellent, each offering a unique perspective of the region we happened to be in. The food was tasty, and we weren’t left yearning for better quality, variety or quantity. Namibia and Botswana are a meat lover’s paradise.

Practically speaking, driving is the way to really see all of the national parks, and we did a lot of it over almost two weeks. Sammy, our guide, is a font of knowledge. I really hoped to learn about people and history beyond rhino, lion and leopard spottings. Yes, we were lucky enough to see big cats. Furthermore, Sammy gave us brilliant lessons into the cultures and peoples of southern Africa. What stood out was how nice Namibian people are.

We were three travellers: myself, my partner and our 9-year-old son, who longed for other kids to connect with. So, it was a big deal to us that Sammy made a point to make sure our son was engaged throughout the trip.

To top things off: I’ve travelled all over the world, and it’s pretty easy to spot a seasoned guide. It comes down to the little details and intangibles. Sammy is a bomb. He has been guiding for many years, and likely could choose whichever company to work for. Through our conversations, he shared that Blue Crane takes good care of its guide and staff. This trip was not cheap, and it’s nice to know that a fair amount of that money is making it to the folks that are not the tour operator owners. Kudos to Blue Crane for that. Highly recommend this operator.

We selected Blue Crane as our tour operator for 11 days in Namibia after reading so many positive reviews. It also had the itinerary we were looking for.

From the moment we connected with Jamie to gather further details and throughout our time on tour, the level of commitment to the client experience exceeded our expectations. The stops, accommodations, restaurants and experiences curated for this tour gave us exactly what we were hoping for — a stress-free overview of this diverse, unique country.

It was our first time in Africa and this was all we could have hoped for. A big reason for this was our guide, Justus. He was knowledgeable, attentive, sincere and very hardworking. He had everything so well organised that we were able to immerse ourselves completely in the experience.
